City to Pay Rapper’s Family for Trial Costs

The City Council voted Wednesday to pay $1.1 million in attorney fees and costs to the family of rap artist Notorious B.I.G., who was gunned down in 1997 in a case that remains unsolved.
A federal judge ordered the payment and declared a mistrial in January, after finding that a police detective had withheld evidence that could have helped the family’s civil case.
