2 Accused of ‘Dirty War’ Kidnapping Go Free

Two former top police officials accused of kidnapping a leftist rebel during Mexico’s “dirty war” of the 1960s and ‘70s were released from prison.
Carlos Solana Macias, ex-director of the Judicial Police for the northern state of Nuevo Leon, and ex-federal police agent Juventino Romero Cisneros left the Topo Chico prison in the city of Monterrey before dawn, Mexican media reported.
A lawyer for the pair said their release was due to a legal reform.
