L.A. County sheriff’s deputy gets Silver Star

Marine reservist Staff Sgt. Dennis Woullard Jr., a deputy sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been awarded a Silver Star for bravery in Iraq.
Woullard was cited for pulling Marines from a vehicle that had struck a roadside bomb and burst into flames near Al Ubaydi in May 2005.
The Silver Star is the nation’s third-highest award for bravery.
