Splitting along ideological lines, the county Board of Supervisors voted 3 to 2 to oppose Proposition 85, a state ballot measure that would prohibit abortions for minors until 48 hours after a doctor has notified the young woman’s parents, except in medical emergencies.

The motion by Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky to oppose the measure was supported by Supervisors Yvonne Brathwaite Burke and Gloria Molina. Supervisors Mike Antonovich and Don Knabe voted against it.
