Council OKs New Meters for Taxicabs

The City Council on Wednesday approved installing new meters in the city’s 2,300 registered taxicabs. The meters would help detect fraud and overcharges.
Officials approved the plan after reports that some drivers had installed devices to make their meters run faster than they were supposed to.
