The sophomore rushed for a career-high 216 yards in 21 carries to help No. 12 Clemson defeat No. 13 Georgia Tech, 31-7, at Clemson, S.C.
Davis, the Atlantic Coast Conference’s leading rusher, got the Tigers’ scoring started with a two-yard run and finished with his seventh 100-yard rushing game.
Davis finished the scoring, setting up his own five-yard touchdown with a 54-yard run. He has 16 touchdowns this season, two shy of Travis Zachery’s school record set in 2000.
The Tigers had their first-half struggles. Davis provided their only sign of offensive life, gaining 66 of the 71 yards on a touchdown drive that he capped with his two-yard run.
Davis spent the rest of the half on the sideline because of a hard hit during the drive that caused his shoulder pads to need an adjustment.
