Indiana State’s skid ends at 24 games

The longest NCAA Division I losing streak ended Saturday when Indiana State defeated Missouri State, 28-22, in a homecoming game at Terre Haute, Ind.

The Sycamores, a Division I-AA team, had lost 24 consecutive games since a double-overtime victory over Illinois State on Oct. 2, 2004.

It was also the first coaching victory for Lou West, who is in his second season.

“I am just so happy and proud for our players,” West said. “This is the first of many, many victories for our program.”

Temple, which lost, 43-21, to Northern Illinois on Saturday, now has the longest losing streak at 20 games. Duke, which nearly upset Miami on Saturday, but lost, 20-15, is second on the list at 15 consecutive losses.

St. Peter’s, which was second on the Division I-AA list, also won Saturday to end a 14-game slide, leaving North Carolina A&T;’s 12-game losing streak as the longest in that division.
