Lifeguards at one of Los Angeles’ busiest beaches caught a murder suspect after he threatened a female lifeguard in her tower, authorities said Monday.
The five lifeguards rushed to the tower at Will Rogers State Beach after their colleague locked herself in and called for help Saturday night, said lifeguard Capt. Robert Torres.
Police later found the assailant’s apparent victim, a 46-year-old male transient, dead of stab wounds in bushes across the street from the lifeguard headquarters in the 15300 block of Pacific Coast Highway.
The suspect, a 48-year-old transient, was turned over to police after the 7:05 p.m. incident, Torres said.
