Chinese cat-lovers mobilized online to save a truckload of cats from the cooking pot and now hope to use the Internet to find them homes, a newspaper said.
Cat rescuer Duo Zirong called police to stop a truck stuffed with about 800 live cats headed for slaughter, China Daily said, sparking an hours-long standoff while cat lovers spread word online, raising $1,320 in donations to buy all the cats.
