* at Milwaukee 3, Arizona 2: Tony Graffanino tied the score with a homer in the fourth and Corey Hart’s sacrifice fly later in the inning gave the Brewers the lead for good. Claudio Vargas (7-2), making his first start against his former team, gave up two runs and five hits in five innings for the Brewers.

* Cincinnati 6, at Atlanta 5: Bronson Arroyo shut out the Braves for seven innings and Jeff Keppinger capitalized on a rare start by hitting a two-run double. Arroyo (4-10) did not allow a run in a start for the first time since Sept. 25 against the Chicago Cubs.

* Colorado 6, at Pittsburgh 2: Josh Fogg scattered five hits over seven innings as the Rockies handed the Pirates their fifth consecutive loss.

* at Florida 4, St. Louis 0: Hanley Ramirez drove in three runs and Rick Vanden Hurk pitched five sharp innings. Vanden Hurk (3-2) gave up five hits, struck out six and walked one.

* Houston 4, at Washington 2: Roy Oswalt made his first relief appearance in more than a year to help the Astros win. Because Houston is off Thursday -- and is short a reliever with Chad Qualls starting a three-game suspension -- Oswalt entered in the middle of a game on what would be his normal side-session day.

* New York 7, San Diego 0: Orlando Hernandez, Pedro Feliciano and Guillermo Mota combined on a three-hitter. Jake Peavy (9-4), the NL starter in the All-Star game, lost for the third time in four decisions. He gave up three runs and six hits in six innings, struck out five and walked two.

* San Francisco 4, at Chicago 2: Dave Roberts drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning two batters after Barry Bonds lined out as a pinch-hitter.

* Philadelphia 15, Dodgers 3: The runs were a season high for an opponent and the hits (26) tied the all-time Dodger record since the club moved to L.A. in 1958.
