Deputy slain in inmate’s escape

An inmate handcuffed inside a van stole a gun from the Broward County sheriff’s deputy at the wheel, fatally shot him and drove off, authorities said.
Michael Mazza was recaptured four hours later at a pawn shop with the deputy’s gun still on him, Sheriff Al Lamberti said.
