Yahoo payment system strained

Yahoo Inc.’s payment processing system suffered periodic outages that prevented some consumers from completing shopping transactions, according to a company website.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company said its merchant services appeared to be straining to keep up with holiday traffic.
