Green houses

Re “Green dollars,” editorial, June 17
Your editorial about green growth ignored L.A.’s embarrassing dearth of affordable homes. Despite the incongruous opposition of supposedly progressive, liberal Westsiders, nothing would reduce traffic and greenhouse gases more than an enforced and equitable spread of affordable -- not market rate -- homes. After all, who would voluntarily commit to a two-hour commute if they could actually afford a 20-minute one?
But in a market-driven plutocracy shamelessly parading as a by-the-people democracy, moving toward true justice is virtually impossible.
