Toddler run over by pickup dies

A 17-month-old girl died Tuesday after running into the path of a pickup truck that then ran over her in a parking lot behind a laundromat.
Police did not release the toddler’s name.
The accident occurred about 10:45 a.m. when the girl’s mother parked her black Chevy pickup truck behind the laundromat on the 1000 block of North State Boulevard, to either load or unload clothes, said Anaheim Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rick Martinez.
At some point, Martinez said, the girl dashed out from behind her mother’s truck into the path of the oncoming white GM pickup, Martinez said.
She was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where she died a short time later. No citations were issued.
“We don’t believe that alcohol or speed were factors,” Martinez said. “It just looks like a very sad and tragic accident.”
