Azusa Pacific wins, 83-69

Azusa Pacific upset fourth-seeded Louisiana State Shreveport, 83-69, on Friday in the second round of the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics tournament at Kansas City, Mo.
Forward Davon Roberts scored 22 points for the 13th-seeded Cougars (24-10), who advanced to the quarterfinals for the fourth year in a row.
It’s also the second year in a row that the Pilots (31-3) were eliminated by Azusa Pacific.

Idaho hired Utah State assistant Don Verlin as its head coach, replacing the fired George Pfeifer.
Pfeifer was fired this week after two seasons and a 12-48 record. Utah State and Idaho are members of the Western Athletic Conference.
