Prison official beheaded in riot

Inmates decapitated a prison official during a riot.
Deputy Director Jorge Augusto Mendoza was slain in Chimaltenango prison. A spokesman said the riot began after two women were caught smuggling in drugs. Inmates said the violence was in reaction to guards’ brutality.
