at Chicago 7, Cleveland 2: Jermaine Dye hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning and hit a solo shot in the seventh to help the White Sox win their seventh consecutive game. Michael Aubrey hit a solo home run in the second for the Indians, who have lost a season-high five games in a row.
at New York 8, Baltimore 0: Alex Rodriguez hit a home run and Darrell Rasner (3-0) won his third consecutive start since being called up from the minors. Rodriguez homered to start the third inning, then hit a ball over the wall in the sixth inning that was ruled a run-scoring double. The Yankees ended a four-game skid.
at Detroit 9, Seattle 4: Marcus Thames hit a grand slam to highlight the Tigers’ seven-run third inning. The Tigers opened their big inning with five consecutive singles against Jarrod Washburn (2-6) before Thames drove his fifth career slam into the bullpen in left field.
at Oakland 9, Tampa Bay 1: Dana Eveland pitched a three-hitter for his first career complete game, Jack Cust homered twice and the Athletics avoided being swept at home by the Rays for the first time. Eveland (4-3) ended a four-start winless stretch.
Texas 10, at Minnesota 1: Sidney Ponson stayed unbeaten for the Rangers, beating his previous team with career complete game No. 29. Almost a year to the day the Twins released him, Ponson (3-0) gave up one run and six hits to go nine innings for the first time since April 24, 2005, with Baltimore at Toronto.
at Boston 6, Kansas City 3: Bartolo Colon made a solid return to the majors after recovering from an elbow injury, posting his first win since June.
Angels 4, at Toronto 3: Vladimir Guerrero hit two home runs and Jon Garland (5-3) gave up three runs and eight hits in six innings for the Angels.
