Two men surfing at Little Dume Beach when photographers were taking pictures of actor Matthew McConaughey in June were charged Tuesday with misdemeanor battery, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.
Skylar Martin Peak, 24, and Philip John Hildebrand, 30, both of Malibu, are scheduled to appear for arraignment Oct. 14 in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Malibu.
The incident began when the actor was surfing off the cove and about a dozen paparazzi showed up, authorities said.
The victim, Richid Altmbareckouhammou, who was working for a French news agency, was thrown into the water.
If convicted, Peak and Hildebrand face up to six months in jail and a $2,000 fine.
