About 584,000 Black & Decker brand Spacemaker coffee makers are being recalled because the brew basket can shift, allowing hot water to overflow and cause burns.
The coffee makers were sold from March 2006 to March 2009 by retailers including K-Mart, Kohl’s, Target, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath & Beyond and Amazon.com. The coffee makers were sold for $60 to $70 each.
Distributor Applica Consumer Products Inc. received 235 overflow reports, including 10 of second-degree burns, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.
The recalled products have an under-cabinet mount and a 12-cup glass carafe or an eight-cup thermal carafe. Only model numbers ODC440, ODC440B, ODC450 and ODC460 are included in the recall.
