Filmmaker Scott Cooper ready to part with his Midcentury home in Brentwood

Talk about a restful place to get away from one’s work life. Writer-director-producer Scott Cooper, who gained fame for his work on “Crazy Heart,” has put his Brentwood house up for sale at $3.695 million.

Three walls of glass in the main living areas of the single-story contemporary, built in 1961, look in on a courtyard garden by the double-door entry. Adding to the Midcentury minimalist vibe are the centerpiece fireplace and vaulted beam ceiling in the clean-lined living room.

The open floor plan includes 3,289 square feet of living space, a den/library with a fireplace, a breakfast area and updated kitchen with a fireplace, four bedrooms, four newly redone bathrooms and a powder room. There are a total of four fireplaces, including one in the master suite.

Walls of glass open to a flagstone patio, lush gardens, a free-form swimming pool and a spa.

Cooper’s credits include “Black Mass” (2015), “Out of the Furnace” (2013) and “For Sale by Owner “(2009). Despite that last credit, Jeeb O’Reilly and Tori Barnao of Compass are the listing agents.

The filmmaker bought the property in late 2011 for $1.8 million, public records show.
