Van Halen is embarking on an extensive 2012 American tour that will take the four-piece rock band across the country over five months, including a Staples Center concert on June 1, and a Honda Center gig in Anaheim on June 12. The band, featuring David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, and Eddie’s son Wolfgang Van Halen, will be touring in support of a new studio album called “A Different Kind of Truth,” which will be released in the U.S. on Feb. 7 by Interscope Records. The British rocker is returning for another round of shows in North America in which he’ll remount the group’s stage production of the rock opera “The Wall.” The 2012 “The Wall” tour begins May 1 in Houston and will include 36 shows. It is scheduled to conclude July 14 in Philadelphia. A May 19 date in Los Angeles is slated for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum & Sports Arena. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member also is scheduled to visit San Francisco on May 11 and San Diego on May 13. The 2010 tour was the second-highest-grossing North American tour of the year, having pulled in $89.5 million, a figure topped only by Bon Jovi’s $108.2 million. Madonna already has a busy year -- including a new album and playing the Super Bowl with Nicki Minaj -- but it’s unclear if she’ll stay on the road after the Feb. 5 half-time gig.
