‘Homeland,’ ‘The Affair’ picked up by Showtime for new seasons

Showtime has picked up new seasons of its acclaimed dramas “Homeland” and “The Affair.”
“Homeland” starring Claire Danes as a no-nonsense antiterrorism government agent, is currently in its fourth season. Twelve new episodes will air next year. The drama also stars Mandy Patinkin.
“The Affair,” which explores the complications surrounding an extramarital affair, premiered last month, and the second season will have 10 episodes that will premiere next year.
The series examines the affair from a male and female perspective and stars Dominic West, Maura Tierney, Ruth Wilson and Joshua Jackson.
David Nevins, president of Showtime Networks, had high praise for both series, saying both have proved to be popular with viewers of the premium network.
