How much do you know about this year’s class of Oscar-nominated directors?
You can no doubt rattle them off by now: There’s Richard Linklater, of the years-in-the-making coming-of-age opus “Boyhood”; Wes Anderson, of the intricately nested caper “The Grand Budapest Hotel”; Alejandro G. Inarritu, of the visually daring black comedy “Birdman”; Morten Tyldum, of World War II-set code-breaking drama “The Imitation Game”; and Bennett Miller, of the stranger-than-fiction story of obsession that is “Foxcatcher.”

Even so, you may not know which of the five nominees got his start in the radio booth, or who’s had a convicted killer live in his garage.
