The ceremony didn’t just honor do-gooder celebrities -- the main Do Something Award is for a young person who works for social change. Winner Jessica Posner, 23, hoists the trophy amid her fellow nominees, from left, Jacqueline Murekatete, 25, Mark Rembert, 25, Micaela Connery, 23, and Wilfredo Perez Jr., 23. Posner won for co-founding Shining Hope for Communities to combat gender inequity in Kibera, an impoverished area of Nairobi, Kenya. Through the Kibera School for Girls (the area’s first free school) and Shining Hope Community Center, Posner has helped more than 5,700 people gain education and employment.
