Fans were shocked when news broke Saturday night that the 48-year-old pop singer had been found dead in her Beverly Hilton hotel room. Though the official cause of death has not been determined, reports soon surfaced that she’d been found submerged in her bathtub. Nicki Minaj and her religiously themed Grammy Awards performance didn’t have many converts among the Catholic League on Monday: The organization slammed the singer-rapper for what it called an attack from the entertainment industry. Singer-dancer-philanthropist Shakira, 34, was attacked by a sea lion Sunday afternoon during a nature tour out of Cape Town, South Africa, and had to be rescued by her brother Tony, whom she says literally saved her life. “One of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me,” Shakira told her fans via Facebook. Fans of “The Colbert Report” were shocked when the comedian unexpectedly canceled tapings of the show on Wednesday and Thursday. Comedy Central released only a short statement saying the cancellations were due to “unforeseen circumstances.” By Friday, multiple outlets were reporting that Colbert’s 91-year-old mother was seriously ill and he had put the show on hold to be with her.
