Prosecutors call man in trafficking case ‘pimp/modern-day slave owner’

A suspected pimp and one of his recruiters are scheduled to be in court Friday morning on charges of trafficking a 16-year-old girl, pimping a minor and a host of other alleged sexual crimes.

Eugene Miller, 30, of San Diego is accused by the Orange County district attorney’s office of being a “pimp/modern-day slave owner,” while Ivylynn Renee Reid, 20, is accused of working for him as a prostitute and recruiting other women to engage in commercial sex for Miller, according to a news release.

Reid allegedly met the 16-year-old girl in August on a social networking site and arranged a meeting with the girl about the possibility of providing her with “a wealthier lifestyle.”

Miller is accused of having sex with the girl in a hotel room. Prosecutors have also accused Reid of oral copulation involving the 16-year-old.

Reid showed the girl prostitution routes in Anaheim, told her the prices to charge customers and began advertising her on a website known for prostitution, the district attorney’s office said.

On Aug. 23, an Anaheim police officer began investigating Reid and Miller after speaking to the 16-year-old on the street.

Miller was arrested in Hemet on Sept. 2. Reid was arrested in Los Angeles on Aug. 30.
