A man who was allegedly seen punching his girlfriend in an Antelope Valley College parking lot was arrested at a nearby Christian school campus, where a gun was also recovered.
Lawrence Pickett, 21, was allegedly seen “punching his girlfriend” in the college parking lot in Lancaster on Thursday afternoon, but when authorities arrived, he took off running, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Pickett “avoided deputies” by running southbound across Avenue K and onto the Bethel Christian School campus as students prepared to be dismissed, the Sheriff’s Department added.
Faculty members at the school told Pickett to leave and pointed authorities to where he was hiding. He was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. and a .38 caliber pistol was found nearby, authorities said.
