A big-rig truck hauling glass overturned early Monday morning on a transition road from the southbound 5 Freeway to the eastbound 60 Freeway in Boyle Heights, snarling morning traffic at the busy interchange.
Television news footage showed the semi-truck on its side, with shattered glass strewn across several lanes of the roadway.
The truck overturned after a collision with another vehicle, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Alex Rubio. The incident was reported to the CHP at 5:52 a.m., he said.
“There’s glass all over the roadway,” Rubio said.
The transition road was shut down early Monday, and the cause of the collision was under investigation, Rubio said.
It was reopened about 11 a.m., the CHP said.
