Nearly two weeks after suffering a heart attack at his Orange County home, UFC heavyweight fighter Shane Del Rosario has died, a family spokesman said.
Del Rosario, 30, was in full cardiac arrest when he was rushed to Hoag Hospital but was revived in the emergency room.
The fighter, however, fell into a coma and remained in critical condition. He was pronounced dead Monday.
Doctors at Hoag told family members that Del Rosario’s death was probably a result of a congenital disorder, said Jason House, the fighter’s manager.
The UFC said in a statement that it “mourns the tragic loss” of Del Rosario, who attended Dana Hills High school and lived in Laguna Niguel.
“The entire organization sends its deepest condolences to Shane’s family and friends,” the statement said.
