Authorities have identified the two plane occupants who were killed in a crash in Santa Barbara County last week.
The pilot was identified as 58-year-old David Martz and the passenger as 56-year-old Greg Bacino, both of San Diego, according to a statement from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department .
Martz was hired by Bacino to fly him to a business meeting in San Luis Obispo, according to the statement. The two were flying home about 10 p.m. Thursday when the pilot reported that the Cessna 182 was experiencing engine problems.
The plane lost power and crashed into a steep hillside in a remote area of the Los Padres National Forest north of Ojai, authorities said.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
