Sor Rungvisai to defend super-flyweight belt against Mexico’s Estrada on Feb. 24 at Forum

Thailand’s Srisaket Sor Rungvisai will return to the Southland on Feb. 24 to make the second defense of his World Boxing Council super-flyweight belt against Mexico’s Juan Francisco Estrada, promoter Tom Loeffler announced Saturday.
Sor Rungvisai (44-4-1, 40 knockouts) affirmed his previous narrow March victory by decision against Nicaragua’s Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez by knocking him out in stunning fashion in the fourth round in September at StubHub Center.
On the same card, former world flyweight champion Estrada (36-2, 25 KOs) knocked down champion and countryman Carlos Cuadras in the 10th round and eked out a narrow unanimous decision, 114-113 on all three judges’ scorecards.
Loeffler said he has interest in making the HBO broadcast a tripleheader as he did with the super-flyweights in September.
One participant could be Japan’s World Boxing Organization champion Naoya Inoue (14-0, 12 KOs).
“We would like to have Inoue on again if we can make it work,” Loeffler said in a text message. “He’s become a huge fan favorite after this last performance on HBO.”
Cuadras may also appear, but Loeffler said it’s “not confirmed when Chocolatito will fight next” after being hospitalized overnight from Sor Rungvisai’s September knockout.
Sor Rungvisai was hailed in his country after flattening Gonzalez, meeting with royalty in the country where he previously worked as a garbage man.
