Josh Beckett will undergo an MRI exam Tuesday in an attempt to find the source of numbness in his fingers.

Beckett has been sidelined since May 13 with a strained groin. He is believed to have been experiencing the numbness before then.

Beckett was 0-5 with a 5.19 earned-run average when he landed on the disabled list.

While Beckett is awaiting the results of his examination Tuesday, Stephen Fife will be pitching for Class-A Rancho Cucamonga. Fife has been on the disabled list with shoulder inflammation since April 21.
