Baseball: Kyle Molnar throws no-hitter for Aliso Niguel

Junior right-hander Kyle Molnar of Aliso Niguel threw an eight-inning no-hitter on Saturday to defeat Los Alamitos, 1-0. Molnar, a UCLA commit, struck out 10, walked none and improved to 3-0. Except for an error in the fifth inning, he would have thrown a perfect game. He faced the minimum 24 batters.
Darren McGaughan, a Long Beach State signee, did his best to match Molnar, allowing one hit through seven innings. Los Alamitos dropped to 3-2. Aliso Niguel is 4-1.
Vista Murrieta improved to 6-0 with a 6-1 victory over Long Beach Wilson. Ryan Lillie, Ruben Ornelas and Benny Blackwell each had two hits.
Temecula Valley is 5-0 after a 5-2 win over Oceanside El Camino. Devin Castro allowed two hits in five innings.
Great Oak improved to 4-0 with a 3-2 win over San Pasqual. Hunter Arriago drove in the winning run in the seventh.
Huntington Beach Edison defeated Woodbridge, 8-1. Nate Madden struck out four in five innings.
Niko Switalla threw a six-inning shutout to lead Chatsworth (6-1-1) past Etiwanda, 6-0.
Walnut swept a doubleheader from Glendora, 3-0, and 6-5. Sophomore Christian Longoria struck out six in the first game for Walnut. Sophomore Max Masana threw the complete game in the second game.
North Hollywood defeated Reseda, 10-0, in six innings. Ryan Ruiz struck out 10. Andrew Marmor had three hits. Sierra Canyon defeated Grant, 8-2. Alex Crane had two hits and three RBIs.
Warren improved to 3-0 with a 6-2 win over Cleveland. Julian Perez had two hits.
Servite defeated Savannah, 12-1. Sun Valley Poly defeated Marshall, 2-0. Jesus Carranza threw six shutout innings. Javier Vazquez got the save.
Brock Lunquist his his third home run of the season in Fountain Valley’s 9-3 win over Villa Park. He finished with four RBIs. Long Beach Millikan defeated Cypress, 7-2.
Banning knocked off St. John Bosco, 3-2. Sophomore Mike Ramirez (2-0) threw a complete game with seven strikeouts.
Narbonne picked up a 2-1 win over Mira Costa. Javier Garcia had two hits and pitched 2 1/3 innings to earn the save.
Newhall Hart swept a doubleheader from Corona Santiago, 4-0 and 10-9. Paul Richan threw a one-hit shutout in the first game. Wes Fitzpatrick and Jack Ralston had four hits apiece on the day.
Santa Margarita defeated Loara, 4-2, in 10 innings. Nick Wallace had the game-winning RBI. Ryne Russo and JJ Carr had RBI doubles.
Sylmar defeated Taft, 5-3. Alex Gutierrez had three RBIs. Jose Holguin hit a home run. Hoover defeated Arleta, 8-7. Fidel Hernandez contributed two hits and threw three innings of relief.
Saugus split a doubleheader with Ayala, winning, 8-5, in 14 innings and losing, 10-9.
Birmingham defeated Arcadia, 6-4. Ryan Mendoza had a single and double. Diamond Ranch defeated Granada Hills, 2-1, in eight innings.
Moorpark defeated Bell, 9-0. Troy Conway went three for four with two RBIs.
Alemany swept a doubleheader from Canyon, 11-4 and 3-2. Cristian Montes had three hits on the day.
