Arleta is a heavy favorite to win another East Valley League football championship. And Coach Bill Coan is excited about receiving help this season from an eight-man football veteran, Gustavo Herrera, a transfer from Fulton College Prep.
Coan said the 6-foot, 280-pound Herrera will start at center and has been impressive at practice. He’s also an effective long snapper.
Arleta, a Division I team, will play three Division I teams in nonleague games _ Eagle Rock, South Gate and Roosevelt.
The speedy Isaiah Gable figures to lead Arleta on offense. Tight end Malik Crenshaw should be a major contributor.
