Football: Elijah Asante takes coaching job in Alabama

Elijah Asante, a former football coach at Carson, L.A. Jordan, Compton and St. Paul, has been hired as the football coach at St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Huntsville, Ala.
St. John Paul II opened in 1996.
“I consider myself a humble servant of God,” Asante said in a media release from the school. “I have been called to serve the youth of our society, and my goal is to invigorate the JPII football program.”
The team was 0-11 last season.
Asante also will be the athletic director.
