Football: Long snappers get attention in SoCal

It’s time to start taking a look at players to watch for the upcoming high school football season, so why not start with the group still seeking respect _ long snappers.
Long snapper guru Chris Rubio continues to do his best to get them recognition. I asked him to give me his list of top long snappers in Southern California. They’re the players who when doing their job correctly no one notices. But their job is critical to help successful kickers and punters.
Rubio ranks Glendora senior Damon Johnson No. 1 on his list from the class of 2016. Johnson is known for his accuracy and the speed of his snaps.
Other top long snappers among seniors include John Aloma of Simi Valley, Koby Walsh of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, Grant Jaffe of Santa Margarita, Riley Shackelford of Ayala, Jack Munsey of JSerra, Matt O’Donoghue of Foothill and Jared Enrico of La Mirada.
Leading the junior group is talented Kyle Gibbs of Norco, a 6-foot-2, 220-pounder. Among the class of 2018, Kyle Petrucci of Corona del Mar, 6-5, 235 pounds, is already gaining attention.
