Padres 8, Dodgers 2
AT THE PLATE: Juan Uribe doubled in the first inning to drive in Rafael Furcal at Camelback Ranch. Marcus Thames doubled in the second inning and eventually scored on Rod Barajas’ sacrifice fly, but the Dodgers didn’t score again off San Diego pitching.
ON THE MOUND: Clayton Kershaw gave up four hits and one unearned run in 4 1/3 innings while striking out three and walking two. Closer Jonathan Broxton struggled in the sixth inning, allowing four runs — including a home run to Jarrett Hoffpauir — while also hitting a batter as the Padres scored five times overall.
EXTRA BASES: Kershaw has yet to allow an earned run in three Cactus League starts this spring. Dodgers third baseman Casey Blake had back-to-back errors — one throwing, one fielding — in the first inning.
UP NEXT: Chad Billingsley faces the Oakland Athletics and Gio Gonzales at Phoenix Municipal Stadium at noon PST Friday.
ON THE AIR: TV: None; Radio: None.
