Manny Ramirez officially reinstated by MLB

New York, NY — Manny Ramirez has been officially reinstated by Major League Baseball from the voluntary retirement list.
Ramirez, 39, retired in April after a second violation of the league’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The violation came with a 100-game suspension, but the slugger instead chose to hang up his cleats.
The Office of the Commissioner and the Players Association have decided that Ramirez can return if he first serves a 50-game suspension.
In parts of 19 MLB seasons with the Indians, Red Sox, Dodgers, White Sox and Rays, Ramirez has batted .312 with 555 home runs and 1,831 RBI. He won World Series titles with Boston in 2004 and 2007.
A 12-time All-Star, Ramirez previously served a 50-game suspension in 2009 as a member of the Dodgers and is currently facing charges in Florida for allegedly striking his wife with an open hand on September 12.
