Lance Armstrong loses bid to block $12-million lawsuit

A Texas court has denied Lance Armstrong’s motion for temporary relief against a Dallas company that is seeking to recover $12 million in performance bonuses paid to him during his historic cycling career.
SCA Promotions wants the money back because Armstrong admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs. The company says it was deceived by the disgraced cyclist.
The Supreme Court of Texas announced on its website Friday that Armstrong’s petition for a writ of mandamus has been denied. The motion sought to block a June review by an arbitration panel that has agreed to consider the case.
SCA decided to file its suit after Armstrong confessed to cheating in early 2013.
