Paul Azinger says he has no problems with reported Ryder Cup pick

A day after the PGA of America reportedly chose Davis Love III to captain the 2016 U.S. Ryder Cup team, Paul Azinger -- another top candidate for the job -- insisted there is no rift between him and the prestigious golf association.
“Reports that the PGA and I are at odds, are completely false,” Azinger tweeted on Tuesday morning.
Azinger ranked among the favorites to return as captain after the Americans failed miserably under Tom Watson at the 2014 Cup in Scotland.
The Golf Channel reported on Monday that PGA officials had instead chosen Love and would announce their selection next week. Azinger told the network he had withdrawn his name from consideration.
“If true, Davis is an excellent choice for many reasons,” he was quoted as saying about the reported selection. “He’s still connected to the players.”
