U.S. men move up one spot to No. 13 in FIFA rankings

The U.S. men’s national soccer team climbed a spot to No. 13 in the FIFA world rankings for April, returning to where it been two months earlier and equaling the team’s highest spot in the poll since October 2009.
Two months before the start of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, defending champion Spain remained No. 1 in the rankings, followed by Germany and Portugal.
Germany and Portugal were both drawn into the four-team group the U.S. will play in this summer’s World Cup. Ghana, the fourth team in the group, dropped three spots to No. 38 in the rankings.
The rest of the top 10 is made up of Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland, Italy and Greece.
Argentina was among three top 10 teams that dropped in the rankings, falling three spots. Brazil and Greece both move up three places.
Mexico, meanwhile, moved up a spot to No. 19.
