Deal: Summer prices, pool parties at Phoenix hotel’s roof-top Lustre bar

Why go to Phoenix in the heat of summer? Kimpton Hotel Palomar Phoenix takes the edge off the temperature with lowered room prices and free pool parties.
The deal: It’s called 100 Days of Summer, and this deal offers rooms starting at $120 a night. The free parties happen at the third-story Lustre Rooftop Bar, which has a pool and cabanas. Live bands and DJs perform from 2 to 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturdays and 2 to 6 p.m. Sundays.
You also receive a 10% discount on drinks at Lustre and dining at nearby Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails.
Travel + Leisure gave this bar a shout-out as a place “where cavorting pool partiers cool off with frozen daiquiri pitchers and games of champong (beer pong with Champagne) in the shadow of downtown skyscrapers and South Mountain.”
Yup, maybe the partying will make you forget the triple-digit desert heat.
When: The offer is good through Sept. 5.
Tested: I checked online and found availability July 15 to 17 for a room with two queen beds. Price is $149 a night, excluding tax. Rooms in the cooler months of October and November cost $180 and up, according to the hotel’s online booking site.
Bottom line: Summer room prices are a good deal, provided you can stand the heat.
