‘Star Wars’ models take shape at Legoland California [Photos]

Work has begun on many of the Lego models coming to a new ““Star Wars” href=”https://www.starwars.com/”>Star Wars” themed area at California rides and attractions” href=”http://pixel.nohib.com./travel/deals/themeparks/la-trb-top-10-legoland-california-20101105,0,2439627.story”>Legoland California – including Han Solo’s Millennium Falcon, Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder and X-Wing starfighters as well as miniature versions of stormtroopers, droids and creatures from the epic film saga.

Crews have cleared land for the new “Star Wars” miniland and begun pouring foundations for the animated scenes to be depicted from the six movies in the series and the “Clone Wars” television cartoon.
Keen-eyed fans will be able to spot the 1:20 scale versions of iconic “Star Wars” characters, spacecraft and landscapes under construction in the Legoland model shop. Starting in late February, the models are expected to begin the migration into a currently fenced-off area of the Carlsbad kiddie park’s Miniland in advance of the March 31 debut.
Eight model makers and two animators based at Legoland Germany have been working for a year with Lucasfilm to create 2,000 “Star Wars” models using 1.5 million Lego bricks.
Similar “Star Wars” areas are expected to open at Legoland Denmark and Legoland Germany later in the year.
