Fanciers of ocean liners, take note: Booking opened Monday for the 2009 world cruises of Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 and the line’s new Queen Victoria, under construction in Italy.
Queen Victoria will sail a 99-day “Exploration of Distant Horizons” voyage in 2009 from New York to Southampton, England, stopping in five continents. It will depart Jan. 10, 2009. Early-booking fares, good all this year, start at $20,955 per person, double occupancy.
When it makes its debut in December, the 1,980-passenger Queen Victoria, smaller than the 2,592-passenger Queen Mary 2, will have unique features: the first floating museum of Cunard memorabilia and the line’s first two-story library.
Queen Mary 2 will sail a 90-day “Epic Expedition” in 2009 from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., to New York, calling on four continents. Its maiden calls will include Lima, Peru; Osaka, Japan; Bangkok; and Oman. The ship will depart Jan. 13, 2009. Early-booking fares start at $20,745 per person, double occupancy.
Shorter segments, at lower cost, can be booked on both world voyages. Information: (800) 728-6273, www.cunard.com.
