‘Demeaning Our Own Values’

Goodwin, in his decrying of the maladjustment of income distribution, seems to forget the important factor here--we are a free society.
If we do not approve of the way income is spread around we are free to leave. Leave for the place of our own choosing.
In 1980 and again in 1984 we voted for free enterprise capitalism, and I think what we have here today is this system in its finest hour.
I cannot understand how a free people could vote so overwhelmingly for a leadership that is as out of tune with their wishes as the figures used by Goodwin portray.
