Robert J. Close has been appointed vice president, engineering and general manager of Tait & Associates Inc., a civil engineering consulting firm in Orange. He was formerly vice president, operations. Before joining Tait, he was assistant vice president for HDR Engineering Inc. and director of engineering for Novack Dempsey & Associates Inc. He also spent nine years with the Cook County Highway Department in Illinois, the last two as chief administrative engineer, contract documents division.
