P.M. BRIEFING : Karcher Tells Revenue Increase

Carl Karcher Enterprises Inc. today reported increased revenues for the first quarter of fiscal 1991, although, as anticipated, earnings for the period were slightly below those of the previous year’s quarter.
For the 16 weeks ended May 21, 1990, net income was $5.3 million, equal to 29 cents per fully diluted share, compared with $5.7 million, or 30 cents per fully diluted share, in the first quarter of last year. Revenues advanced to $157.1 million from $148.9 million last year.
Anaheim-based Carl Karcher Enterprises Inc. is the parent company for Carl’s Jr., the regional fast-food restaurant chain whose franchisees and licensees operate 537 restaurants in California, Nevada, Oregon, Arizona and Japan.
