Brokerages: Merrill Lynch & Co. said its second-quarter earnings rose 13% as a restructuring continued to produce positive results. Merrill Lynch said it earned $74.1 million even though revenue fell 1% to $2.87 billion. Paine Webber Group Inc., meanwhile, said its second-quarter profit fell 3% to $14.6 million as its investment banking business remained slow. Revenue increased 8% to $468.2 million.
