2nd-Quarter Profit Rises 11% at Zenith National

Zenith National Insurance Corp. of Woodland Hills, citing improvement in its investment portfolio, reported its profit increased 11% in the second quarter ended June 30 to $11.5 million, while revenues rose 6% to $135.4 million. A year earlier, the property-casualty insurance company earned $10.3 million on $128 million in revenues.
For the six months ended June 30, Zenith earned $23.8 million, a 38% gain from $17.2 million in the same period in 1990. Revenues increased 8% to $269.8 million from $250.6 million.
