* George D. Wells has been named president of San Jose-based Exar Corp., succeeding Nobuo Hatta, who in January announced his decision to return to Japan to assume a headquarters position in Kyoto with Rohm Co. Ltd., a major Japanese electronics company. Before the appointment, Wells was president and chief operating officer of LSI Logic Corp.
Exar is a manufacturer of analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
